TAG Heuer Calibre 16 gets You To The Race Track

The TAG Heuer brand has gained a reputation for releasing watches that are not only functional, but which also gives so much pleasure to the eye. The TAG Heuer Calibre 16 watch is another eye-pleasing watch, but don’t let its aesthetics fool you into believing that it falls short when it comes to function.

The TAG Heuer Calibre 16 watch is a sports watch, made to commemorate the spectacular Formula One night race in Singapore, which has been held for the second straight year. Not surprising as TAG Heuer is as close as you can get to the world of motor racing.

The timepiece follows the success of the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 8 which was a limited edition watch. This new release was probably done to allow other people to enjoy the watch since the only 150 pieces made were gobbled up by watch collectors in just nine days. Well, one lucky buyer got the sole watch auctioned at the M.I.L.K. Charity Dinner for $45,000.

The TAG Heuer Calibre 16 watch is another limited release with only 250 pieces to be released by September. The watch comes with a polished and brushed stainless steel case measuring 43mm wide. To remind you of the race car driving-inspired stopwatches in the 1950s, there’s the large crown and pushbuttons on the right side.

The stainless steel watch is accented with green to match the red and green logo of the brand. It will also remind you of the Formula One night track’s glowing green borders.

The TAG Heuer Calibre 16 watch comes with a checked black dial evocative of carbon fiber, with Arabic numerals that unwittingly displays not the hours, but the minutes. The dial is protected by a double-antireflective curved sapphire crystal.

The watch also sports three sub-dials on the face, with the green chronograph seconds hands in the center providing the color highlight to the black watch. It also has complications for hours and minutes, and sports a day and date display at 3 o’clock.
